New environmentally friendly material
We are bringing a new member to our fabric arsenal – Tencel (trade name for lyocell fabric). It is a soft and very pleasant to the touch fiber, which is made from wood pulp (beech, oak or, in the case of Tencel, eucalyptus wood). Certified Tencel ensures that the wood comes only from designated ares so no deforestation here.
The material is very durable, strong and does not wrinkle. It cools you down in the summer and warms you up again in the winter. It also has an antibacterial effect, absorbs well (without leaving an odor) and then dries - the brand is ideal for hot days or travelling.
How is Tencel made?
Its production is environmentally friendly and the material does not contain any chemicals at the end of its journey. The production of lyocell is called "closed loop" - no harmful by-products are produced during its processing, the chemicals used are non-toxic and can be used repeatedly. It is thus an ideal fiber not only for fans of sustainable fashion, but also for allergy and atopic sufferers. Clothes made from Tencel are biodegradable and compostable, so they do not harm nature even after they are used up.
The ecological nature of Tencel is also reflected in its cultivation itself - to grow a relatively large amount, a much smaller space is needed rather than, for example, to grow cotton. The soil that is needed to produce a single cotton T-shirt is enough for ten T-shirts in the case of cellulose fibers.
An amazing invention and how to care for it
All these facts were a clear reason to choose Tencel as our new material. For us, it's an absolutely amazing invention, which (not only) will bring a little relief to the sustainable fashion world.
And what to do when you buy something from Tencel? Wash the clothes on a gentle program at a temperature of 30º with gentle washing powder, avoid fabric softener and spin at a lower speed. If possible, do not put in the dryer, hang things up, they will last longer like new. As this fabric is wrinkle-free, there should be no need to iron Tencel - but if you feel you would like to iron the garment, be sure to set a lower temperature (preferably no steam).
As of now, you can find many pieces on our website that are made from certified Tencel fabrics. Firstly our amazing basic T-shirts made of new sustainable jersey fabric, which you will fall in love with the first time you put it on. Of course you will find also a timeless lightweight dresses or our best seller - the perfect pair of pants that actually fit your waist and hips. Amazing, eh?
We are also preparing other pieces from Tencel for you, because your comfort and our planet are really important priorities for us.
So, are you as excited about Tencel as we are? And what other Tencel products would you like to see from us?
